THE MUSIC PROGRAM AT SOUTHSIDE

If you�re looking for a church with an exciting and sound doctrinal music ministry, then Southside is surely the place for you! Here at Southside we have something for all ages in our music ministry. It is our sole purpose to worship the Lord in all of our music experiences and to lead others to do the same. We feel that it is not about us, it is all about Jesus and knowing Him in an intimate personal relationship and leading others to know Him and grow strong in the Lord.

Through the music here at Southside we desire to honor and worship the Lord in all that we do musically. It�s not about performance, but it is about true worship, both in our personal lives and here at church during our rehearsals and services. Though we encourage faithfulness and hard work, perfection is not our goal. Our goal is to seek God and to prepare ourselves to worship and lead others in a true worship experience. We strive to achieve this through prayer, rehearsal, sharing, ministry and a biblical approach to worship through music.

We sing many different styles of music!

A broad range of musical styles are offered with the greatest emphasis on the cross, the blood and songs that lift up the name of Jesus and bring exaltation to who God is.

Our greatest criterion for music selection is the text, making sure that our songs are biblically sound. We use southern gospel, traditional, praise and worship, contemporary and a strong diet of our great hymns of faith. The music here at Southside ranges from very easy tunes to those that are challenging. We incorporate hymns, spiritual songs, choruses, anthems, collections, musicals, dramas and even a passion play.

Many of the things we do are the ideas and arrangements that God gives to us here in our music ministry. In all that we do we pray and seek God�s will and His anointing.

We are very blessed with so many that have a heart for God and serving Him! God has given us very anointed musicians and sound technicians that pray and work hard to bring honor and glory to the Lord. We have a great team and we are praying that God will continue to add His increase in all these areas.

If you are a musician, a person with sound or lighting experience or have a desire to learn in this area or you enjoy making a joyful noise to the Lord, then Southside is where you need to be.

We have an Adult Choir for You...

There are a number of choirs here at Southside. For adults we have the Sanctuary choir. This choir is a very exciting choir with a lot of opportunity to share in our worship services. We have a lot of prayer warriors and we experience some very special times with the Lord. We have seen God do some awesome miracles and have experienced great blessings and times of worship both in service and rehearsal. We treat rehearsals as a time of ministering and worship.

This past Easter we were involved in perhaps the most spiritual challenging musical experience, a musical drama entitled �For Mercy�s Sake� in which we saw God move mightily. We are presently preparing to begin rehearsal for a worship experience that we are putting together that will be presented the first part of September which is not titled at this time. Come check this choir out, you will be blessed and challenged as we grow in the Lord together.

and a special choir for your children!

For the children we have two choirs. The younger children�s choir is called the �Cherub Choir�; this choir is for ages three through kindergarten. This choir has a lot of energy and they sing in our Sunday evening worship services from time to time.

For ages six through the sixth grade we have our children�s choir. This choir does three musical dramas a year and they sing occasionally in our Sunday evening worship service. We have just begun the musical drama entitled �King of the Jungle� that will be presented in August. This choir is very exciting and is really growing, it is one of the largest children�s choirs we�ve ever had. If you have a child one of these choirs would be a great opportunity for them to grow in the Lord. In recent months we have seen a number of our children come to know the Lord as Savior.

We even have the youth covered!

We will be starting our youth choir back in August. We have a lot of great music and this choir would be a great experience for a youth to grow in the Lord and in worship of music to Him.

Quartet Music!

Recently we have started a male quartet which is going great. We also have plans to start another male vocal group and perhaps a mixed ensemble, we already have the music and we are just praying for the Lord to put these groups together. You might be just the person that the Lord wants to be involved in one of these groups.

God is so good and has been so faithful, His mercies are new everyday! We experience His abundant blessings everyday, how can we keep silent, how can we not sing His praise and enter His gates with thanksgiving! God is so faithful; in turn we must be faithful. Psalm 145: 1-3 �I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.�
